NYS DEC Ecotoxicology Internship

I was a field intern with the NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation in the Ecotoxicology Section under Dr. Yu Chen on a project to measure the trophic effects of in an ecosystem affected by heavy amounts of fire extinguishing foam with forever contaminants such as PFAS. I monitored Tree Swallow nest boxes, collecting eggs, hatchlings, and nestlings. I used mist nets to capture songbirds as well as hoop nets to capture turtles to take blood samples.
